At Monarch Mountain we are constantly working on our terrain parks; improving, shaping and using the varied snowfalls to help manipulate the terrain.
One of the beauties of our parks is the low key attitude. Unlike the bigger terrain parks at other resorts, ours are super relaxed. Beginners won’t feel intimidated by boisterous crowds while the more advanced skiers and riders have plenty of options to choose from. The terrain parks include fun-boxes, rails, hips, and hits. Get out there and check out why so many people are coming back for more.
There are no lines to wait in, lots of options to play with and great snow to land on! Once you get a taste of the Monarch Mountain Terrain Parks, you’ll find yourself doing laps all day.
The Never Summer Terrain Park is located off of Breezeway lift along the run Ramble On. It’s an awesome park filled with boxes, rails, larger jumps, and natural features. Never Summer is recommended only for those with previous terrain park experience and who are comfortable on features several feet off the ground.
The Tilt Terrain Park, located just below the base of the Panorama lift, is geared towards the beginner to intemediate skier and snowboarder. Low boxes, rails, and jumps are perfect for those who have never tried tricks or those who want to increase their skills in a safe environment.
When using the terrain parks, practice Smart Style:
START SMALL - Work your way up. Build your skills.
MAKE A PLAN - Every feature. Every time.
ALWAYS LOOK - Before you drop.
RESPECT - The features and other users.
TAKE IT EASY - Know your limits. Land on your feet.
Mirkwood Basin is our hike to ski side-country that offers 130 acres of double-black diamond extreme skiing full of bowls, chutes, cliffs, glades and trees. Formerly part of Monarch’s Cat Skiing area, it boasts some of the best terrain in Colorado. Just a short 15 minute boot pack to the top and you’re in Mirkwood. The view alone is worth it. During peak season, this is where you can escape and ski freshies all day long.
Do you enjoy earning your turns and catching a beautiful sunrise? Even while our lifts are turning we allow uphill travel for those looking to boost their daily workout. So, for those of you who like to go against the grain, swim upstream, or simply get your heart rate up. This takes 'skiing independent' to a whole new level.
