health + safety precautions

We are committed to maintaining the health and safety of guests, employees and our community. It’s up to all of us to work together to keep the season--and our fellow skiers and riders--going strong. Please help us by following these six simple steps to stop the spread. Thank you!
  • Wear a face covering
  • Stay home or go home if you are unwell; stay home if you are high-risk
  • Wash your hands
  • Stay 6 feet apart / don’t congregate
  • Get tested if you’re sick
  • Get a flu shot
Our operating plan was developed in conjunction with, and approved by, Chaffee County Public Health and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. We have adopted CDC guidelines including enhanced sanitation procedures designed to combat the transmission of COVID-19. Highlights of our plan include:
  • Re-designed lift lines for physical distancing
  • Following all county and state public health building and terrain capacity restrictions.
  • Enhanced sanitation measures for all areas.
  • Providing staff with ongoing COVID-19 regulation training, daily symptom and temperature checks, face coverings and other PPE, disinfectant for workspaces and free flu shots, among other things.

general information

Monarch Mountain Passes

Monarch Mountain Season Passes (regular, Wings, military, college) will not be restricted (at this time). Go straight to lift.

Partner Passes

Will not be restricted (at this time). Come to the ticket window and show your valid partner pass to get a ticket for the day (three times).

FOOD + BEVERAGE

Although our food venues may look and feel a little different this season, we will be serving the same great food and beverages we always have. We recommend grab-n-go or take-out, although we will have some limited seating with social distancing, and a host to seat you if dining in the Sidewinder.
You will not be able to eat your brown-bag lunch indoors.

BASE AREA

Gathering and milling about in common areas is discouraged to promote physical distancing. Please wear a face covering.

RIDING LIFTS

Guests will not be required to ride a chairlift with people they did not arrive in their vehicle with. Parties not traveling together can load one at a time on Garfield, Panorama, Tumbelina and Breezeway, and two at a time, with two seats between them, on the Pioneer lift. Please wear a face covering on all lifts.

PARKING

As always, overnight camping in our parking lots is prohibited.
Large group gatherings in the parking lots are strongly discouraged. Please follow the direction of the attendants when parking.

VOLUNTARY REQUESTS

Avoid Weekends When Possible
Given a choice between skiing and riding on a weekday and a weekend, we strongly encourage guests to ski weekdays. We hope some of our skiers and riders have some new-found flexibility and are able to transition more of their visits to weekdays.
Enjoy Afternoon Skiing
Skiers and riders planning to only ski 2-3 hours per day should consider visiting in the afternoon when crowds are usually lighter.
Avoid Historically Busy Days
On historically busy days, we may encourage skiers and riders to come at another time to facilitate physical distancing.

FAQ's

Can I go inside? Where do I leave my stuff?

Expect to only be able to go inside to use the bathroom, purchase food or for a quick warm-up. Buildings / indoor spaces will not be places to hang out this season and will have capacity restrictions per Chaffee County health guidelines. Plan to gear up / boot up at your car and leave all of your belongings there and do not plan to store personal items in our facilities. Lockers will not be available.

When will I have to wear a face covering?

Monarch will follow all current Chaffee County health guidelines, including those related to face coverings. Face coverings must be worn inside buildings, in the base area and while riding lifts.

What about uphill access?

Monarch season passholders can still get a free uphill pass. Others can purchase an uphill pass for $20. Signing a waiver is required to obtain an uphill pass.

What's my best option for visiting for a few days from out of town?

If you're planning a vacation this season and want to visit Monarch, your best option is to pre-purchase multi-day lift tickets online. If you’re visiting over a weekend or during the week following Christmas, book early as only a limited number of tickets will be available on these days.

What if the 2020-21 ski season is shortened?

Monarch Mountain guarantees to be open for skiing/snowboarding for (at least) 90 days in the 2020-21 season. If we are unable to be open for 90 days in 2020-21, we will refund the equivalent prorated amount of the purchase price of your Monarch season pass regardless of the number of days you used it.

What if I have unused 2019-20 Season Transferable 3 or 4-Pack Lift Tickets?

Unused 2019-20 3 or 4-pack lift tickets need to be exchanged for tickets valid this season. Bring your unused tickets to the Outpost or Guest Services desk to exchange tickets.
