Good day everyone,
It is currently snowing here at Monarch Mountain on this snow-white Wednesday! Looking for 1-3 inches today then clearing out this evening. Thursday will be warmer, sunny and not as windy as today.
Looking further out, the jet stream flattens out over Colorado on Friday bringing a westerly zonal flow to the state. Multiple systems from Friday mid-day through the end of the year are lined up over the Pacific Ocean. Friday brings light snow with a slightly stronger system on Saturday.
Long term models show storms starting on or around Dec. 25th and dissipating on the 28-29th of December. Long term “Total accumulated precipitation”, liquid water, model indicates .5-1 inch of water for those storms. A quick water to snow conversion, puts monarch in the 5-10 inch range for total snow. I’m not putting a lot of value on those numbers due to the probability they will change again and again over the next 5 days.
I’ll take a look this weekend to see if these conditions improve.
Pray for snow!!
