Heading up the pass just west of the town of Garfield, you can grab a few looks at Mirkwood. The bowl and the ridge are both visible for a brief period on a couple of turns in the road beyond the historic town site https://avigeneric.com/. You can see Mirkwood on the furthest ridgeline below:
