Last night delivered a fast moving storm that dropped upwards of a foot or more on certain aspects. It was a busy day of plowing, shoveling, track packing and SKIING! We began harvesting snow from the parking lot and got a few cats out on the hill track packing some slopes.

As discussed in a post last season, track packing helps set up a base for future snowfall to adhere to by creating ridges on the snow surface while consolidating basal snow crystals. Our cat operators covered ground on Butterfly, Snowflake, Glade, Tilt Rookie, Little Jo, Roundabout and Freeway.

There were some dawn patrol laps and the first ski turns of the season at Monarch were made today. I even got out for a lunch lap 🙂 We plan to keep packing the slopes while watching the weather models. It looks like our next chance for some more snow could be Sunday-Tuesday.
