Pushing Out

The cat skiing crew is making strides into additional terrain this week. The operators are putting the final touches on our network of over the snow roads while the guides push further out the ridge. Although they have been able to get several portions of our permitted area available for cat tours to ski & ride on (Mirkwood Basin, Lower Waterdog Ridge to Dog Heaven, No Name Trees, Portions of No Name Bowl, North Elation, Taco Ridge), there is still more work to do and terrain to prep.

The snow safety team is conducting extensive avalanche mitigation work up towards the Powerline. Our guides are certified as avalanche technicians and utilize explosives for this mitigation work. These efforts will primarily focus on pushing to the north up along the Waterdog Ridge. Other projects this week include running flag lines to set flanks on some of our tree skiing areas within No Name Basin. There are still some open dates on our cat skiing calendar in January and conditions are off to a great start.
