Opening Lines

The Ski Patrol trail crew spent the month of May out on the slopes limbing trees. They have been focusing on trees that are infested with the spruce beetle but are located in areas that will not have active logging operations this summer. This initial effort will help in opening up ski lines through these areas by widening the gaps between trees with fewer limbs to avoid. The crew has been skiing into these tree islands and then utilizing both traditional chainsaws and pole-saws to thin these zones. They worked extensively in the No Name trees and Geno’s Meadow. Once the snow melts, the guys will be in the woods all summer further cleaning up downfall and other obstructions in these zones and many other areas.
