It was another cold and sunny day here at Monarch Mountain! Ski Patrol just finished up 4 days of their annual Outdoor Emergency Care(OEC) Refresher, along with some lift evac, risk management, and avalanche mitigation practices. Now begins the waiting game for “The Call”. The “opening” call every employee hopes for sooner rather than later. The stoke-lab is open and stoke is-a-brewin’!!
Don’t forget Saturday evening’s showing of Warren Miller’s Faces of Winter showing at the Salida Steamplant in Salida, CO, Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show starts at 7 pm. Before the movie, join us for the Kick Off to Winter event next door in the Ballroom from 5 pm to 7 pm. Proceeds for the movie benefit non-profit Friends of Monarch Ski Patrol and Monarch Avalanche Dogs. So come on out and raise some stoke for the ski and ride season and for Monarch Avalanche Dogs! In the meantime, let’s talk about the next chances for snow! “So, your sayin’ there’s a chance”… Current observations show clear skies, single digit temps, and relatively light westerly winds. This will continue into early Sunday morning. Sunday is when we see a change as an upper-level low-pressure system cuts down from the North bring colder temps and moisture to Colorado. We’ll see some light precipitation starting early Sunday, intensifying by mid-day Sunday and lasts only till early Monday. Mid-day on Monday we dry out for the week and another possible chance of snow next weekend. That is a little far away to have any certainty or time frame, but the GFS shows another possible chance next weekend.
Sunday-Monday AM Forecast:
Temps: 0-15 F
Winds: 15-20mph N-E
Snowfall: 1-4 inches of new snow possible
Thanks for reading and pray for snow!!
