I’m not making excuses but I’ve been in school, away from the mountain this past week, sorry for the lack of forecasts. Anyway, January has been a pretty snowy month. Just shy of 60 inches…….(let that sink in for a minute) this month. Historically on average, January and February are the snowiest months of the winter.
The current storm and the previous storm this week has over produced. 31 of those nearly 60 inches fell this week. This additional snow has created the stellar Mid-week conditions that Monarch Mountain is secretly(not-so secretly) known for. All aspects have been skiing very well, according to reports from today.
Snow showers are decreasing across the state. There is a chance for snow tomorrow, late Saturday and another shot on Monday. Not much in the model forecasts for tomorrow but there wasn’t this much in the models today either. Some cold air welcomes the coming week so keep that in mind. Even with light winds, wind chill is always a factor. Keep that in mind also.
That is all I have for now. Hope everyone is having a real good time!
Pray for snow!
