Fence Party

Monarch Cat Skiing utilizes temporary snow-fences to capture snow that is used for building over-the-snow roads in the MCS permitted area.  These temp fences work similarly to the permanent wooden fences that we built within the ski area this summer.  The wind blows the snow from the windward side to the leeward side of these fences. This creates a pile for our snowcats to push and connect with the next pile as they build the road.  A crew of our volunteer boot-packers, along with Mountain Operations staff members spent the day on the Divide prepping these areas for winter.  The fences remain during the winter months and are taken down in the Spring this website.
