CDOT recently conducted their final testing of the three Gazflex Exploders that were installed in September above US Highway 50. These units are able to help mitigate avalanche hazard from a remote location. Mitigation work can be conducted at night when the highway traffic is at a minimum and can easily be closed without disturbing a major highway thoroughfare and commerce. We are looking forward to seeing how well this system works this winter.
