Beacon Basin

The Beacon Basin Training Park is located near the base of the Panorama Lift in the runout of B’s Bash and Doc’s Run. The park was established by Monarch Ski Patrol for guests and staff to practice with their avalanche rescue beacons (transceivers).

The park features up to seven buried transceivers that are wired to a central control panel. The park scenario and signals are changed daily. Some beacons are buried out in the open and others are closer to the treed areas. Probe poles are available to use once a signal is pinpointed and strike plates can be located using the probes. Please do not dig up the transceivers as they are only designed to transmit and work within the park system.

Monarch Ski Patrol is available to answer questions you may have about the park. Feel free to stop in at Patrol HQ, ask a patroller on the mountain, or call MSP Dispatch at 719-530-5111 for assistance. To learn more about avalanche safety and beacon searching techniques, stop by our Backcountry Day Event on Saturday-January 12th. Check out the event details here.
