What to Expect, and Other Useful Information

First day

For scheduling and planning purposes, we request that you pre-register for this program.  If you are unable to do so, plan to arrive at the Reservations desk in the Rental & Lesson Center at 8:15 to register and sign the necessary waiver forms.  If your child does not yet have a season pass, you will be given, in addition to the registration forms, the Season Pass forms to have a pass issued for your child.  Please allow plenty of time to register prior to the start of the first lesson time.

Please have you child meet Monarch staff at in the tent just slopeside of the Rental & Lesson Center at 9:20am.  Program will begin at 9:30am sharp.

Tryouts will occur the first day.  We will be looking for blended skill mastery, including the ability to maintain speed control and staying in a narrow corridor on blue to black terrain.  Appropriate blending of edge, rotary and pressure control of the skis, all in balance will be the ideal.

Participants must be dressed and ready to go upon arrival and at the start of each program day.

Participants should take care of personal needs (breakfast, restroom) before program begins.

Program ends at 3:15pm.  Please pick up your child in the tent just slopeside of the Rental & Lesson Center (where you dropped them off).  If you would like someone else to pick up your child, or be released to their own recognizance, please fill out the custody section of the Registration Form

We want our programs to be fun, with reasonable expectations. We will do our best to meet the individual needs of each participant and group them in the appropriate classes based on ability. If at any time you have any questions or concerns about what is happening please do not hesitate to communicate with the Program Coordinator directly or at This email address is being protected from spambots. What to wear

The participant should wear warm layers of clothing under a waterproof jacket and pants. Warm waterproof mittens or glove, a warm hat and one pair of warm socks is recommended. Wool or synthetic clothing is preferable to cotton garments as cotton absorbs water and does not hold body heat. Eye protection is a must. Goggles and a helmet are also strongly recommended.

Equipment

Equipment rentals are not included in the price of the program. If the participant does not have their own equipment, arrangements for rental equipment can be made through the Monarch Rental Shop. Please click here to link to our RENTAL EQUIPMENT page for cost and reservations.

Whether renting equipment or using your own, each participant should arrive to the program with the appropriate, modern equipment, sized and adjusted by a professional according to the participant's specifications. If renting, please allow extra time before the start of each class to pick up and size your equipment.

Lunch

A balanced meal will be provided for the participant at no extra cost on each program day. Participants will enjoy lunch with the instructors and their peers, allowing for the opportunity to discuss the morning's progress and lay out a plan for the afternoon. Lunch time will occur at the discretion of the instructor and the group.

If your child has any allergies or food restrictions, please be sure to include these on the "Special Considerations" section of the Registration Form
