This program is for skiers or snowboarders, ages 7 through 15, of ability levels ranging from no previous experience (level 1) to advanced (level 8/9). Students will be placed in groups according to age and ability. Lunch will be provided to participants on Saturday program days, to be enjoyed with their instructor.
This program focuses on skills and technique development for 7 to 15 year old skiers and snowboarders, while having fun in guided exploration of the mountain. Students will obtain instruction and experience in a variety of snowriding options including freeriding, the terrain park, and all mountain adventure. During lunch on Saturdays they will have the chance to get to know their peers and talk with the instructor sharing feedback, input and requests to make a tailored plan for exploration and adventure. New This season! This program will have a competitive development option for participants with specific competitive interests.

What to Expect, and Other Useful Information
For scheduling and planning purposes, we request that you pre-register for this program. If you are unable to do so until the first day of the program, please plan to arrive at the Reservations desk in the Rental & Lesson Center at 8:00am to register and sign the necessary waiver forms. If your child does not yet have a season pass, you will also be given the Season Pass forms to have a pass issued for your child.
Please have your child meet Monarch staff in the tent just slopeside of the Rental & Lesson Center at 9:30am. Program will begin promptly at 9:45am, starting with a breakout into groups and an introduction to the instructor. Group assignments may change once out on the mountain based on demonstrated ability.
Participants must be dressed and ready to go upon arrival at the start of each program day.
Participants should take care of personal needs (breakfast, restroom) before the program begins.
Program ends at 2:30pm on Saturdays and 12:15pm on Sundays. Please pick up your child in the tent just slopeside of the Rental & Lesson Center (where you dropped them off). If you would like someone else to pick-up your child, or be released to their own recognizance, please fill out the custody section of the Registration Form
What to wear
The participant should wear warm layers of clothing under a waterproof jacket and pants. Warm waterproof mittens or glove, a warm hat and one pair of warm socks is recommended. Wool or synthetic clothing is preferable to cotton garments as cotton absorbs water and does not hold body heat. Eye protection is a must. Goggles and a helmet are also strongly recommended.
Equipment rentals are not included in the price of the program. If the participant does not have their own equipment, arrangements for rental equipment can be made through the Monarch Rental Shop. Please click here to link to our RENTAL EQUIPMENT page for cost and reservations.
Whether renting equipment or using your own, each participant should arrive to the program with the appropriate, modern equipment, sized and adjusted by a professional according to the participant's specifications. If renting, please allow extra time before the start of each class to pick up and size your equipment.
A balanced meal will be provided for the participant at no extra cost on each Saturday program day. Participants will enjoy lunch with the instructors and their peers, allowing for the opportunity to discuss the morning's progress and lay out a plan for the afternoon. Lunch time will occur at the discretion of the instructor and the group.

The Explorers program comes with a complimentary Monarch Season Pass for the enrollee.
If you have already purchased a season pass for the program participant, a refund will be issued in the amount of the purchase price of the pass once your child is enrolled and the program has been paid for in full. The refund amount of the pass cannot be used as credit towards the cost of the program.

Refunds: Monarch does not offer refunds or make-ups for missed program days. If a student does miss a program day for any reason they will be eligible for a half price two hour private.
There are no make-up days for bad weather, including snow, cold or wind. Severe winter weather is a likely possibility on all program days. Please plan accordingly and make decisions best for your family's situation. For tips on proper winter dressing please see the information below.
