Monarch Mountain has plenty of exciting events planned throughout the winter season. Events such as the popular local Town Challenge racing series and the now infamous Kayaks on Snow Boater X are sure to bring in skiers and riders from near and far. Don't forget to mark your calendars for the huge New Years Eve Celebration featuring awesome slope-side fireworks, food, and a torchlight parade. Great fun for the whole family, and it's free! Ski with a Naturalist
The tour will take place every Sunday beginning Dec. 18 except for Christmas Day. It is free and lasts for approximately 45 minutes. The group meets every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. next to the sign in front of Ski Patrol headquarters and follows all beginner runs. The tour features instruction about forest ecology, wildlife in the winter, the history of recreation on Monarch Pass, ski area-USFS partnership, Monarch Mountain’s green mission, and more.

Santa Skis MonarchSanta skis Monarch
Bring the little ones up to hang out with Santa as he skis or snowboards around Monarch spreading Christmas cheer.  Photo opportunities will be available.

31st New Year's Eve Torchlight Parade & Firework ShowMonarch's New Year's Eve Torchlight Parade
Join us for our annual Torchlight Parade and Firework Show. Festivities will begin around sunset with drink specials and an incredible firework display. Guests can sign up with Guest Services to participate in the Torchlight Parade. If you have never participated in a torchlight parade, this is your chance! Kid Fest
Kid Fest 2012 will consist of FREE activities, contests, games and prizes for the young ones. Face painting, art contests, interactive snow sculptures, helmet decorating, touch-a-snowcat, and a kids terrain park demo & competition in Tilt will be featured. Special appearance from Safety Sam and Smokey the Bear.  Sponsors so far include, Mountain Khakis, Bolle, Colorado Kayak Supply, Camelbak, Kaleidoscope Toys, Winterkids.com, and The North Face.

We've re-scheduled the fireworks display originally set for New Year's Eve.  Please join us around 6pm for a great visual display. The Sidewinder Saloon will be extend Happy Hour until the show is over.  We will also be holding a raffle for a brand new cruiser bike!

The Colorado Ski Mountaineering Cup, a seven-race ski mountaineering series in Colorado, has a stop at Monarch Mountain again this year.  Look for more tree skiing and a boot pack if conditions permit. Chance of powder is high.

7th Annual Kayaks on SnowMonarch's Kayak on Snow Boatercross
Monarch's signature event. Contestants race head to head, similar to Skier Cross, down a specially designed course featuring berms, banks, and bumps, ending in an icy pond! This is as fun to watch as it is to race. Great sponsors will be on hand to provide plenty of stoke for this unique event. 6th Annual Parking Lot Cook-Off & Tailgate PartyMonarch's Tailgate Party & Cook-off Contest
Celebrate the end of ski season and beginning of whitewater season with our annual parking lot cook-off and tailgate party. Guests are encouraged to whip up their best eats, competing for next year's season pass among other goodies. Contestants will also be judged on decor and spirit, so spiff up your rig and come on up, snow or shine! This event continues to attract closet chefs from around the region. Bring your appetite!
